TOPEKA, Kansas—August 29, 2022—Clayton Wealth Partners is proud to announce that Wealth Advisor Eric Purcell, CFP®, has been named a 20 Under 40 honoree for 2022 by the Jayhawk Area Council, Boys Scouts of America.
Each year, the 20 Under 40 award is presented to Topeka/Shawnee County residents, ages 18-39, for their professional and personal contributions to the community. The Jayhawk Area Council accepts nominations in the spring and invites nominees to formally apply for the honor. A selection committee of more than 20 Topeka community leaders reviews the submissions.
“Each year, the program receives more than 200 nominations and over 100 applications, including two letters of recommendation per submission,” the 20 Under 40 webpage states. “The decision to select only 20 honorees out of such a large pool of worthy candidates each year continues to become an increasingly difficult task.”
Results for 2022 were announced on August 22, and a banquet in the award recipients’ honor will be held on November 10.
In announcing Purcell’s award, the Jayhawk Area Council cited his:
- Work as a Wealth Advisor providing financial planning to over 150 households
- Memberships in the Financial Planning Association (FPA) of the Greater Kansas City Chapter and the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA)
- Service as a board treasurer for the Riverfront Advisory Council (RAC); co-chair of the RAC Access, Equity, and Activities (AEA) Committee; and board treasurer of the Sunflower Soccer Association
“Eric’s service with RAC AEA led to the launch of the Topeka Capital Paddle in 2018, a three-mile paddle trip starting west of Topeka and ending at the Kaw River State Park,” the announcement states. “In addition, AEA adopted two boat ramps and terrain surrounding the Topeka weir and has served our community through riverfront cleanups almost every quarter since 2019, engaging groups of all shapes and sizes, such as the young future leader representatives of local Scout Troop 193, including some of their siblings and parents, in the cleanups.”
Purcell said he was honored to have his professional and community service recognized.
“My efforts and passion in the community aim to improve the quality of place in Topeka. The better the quality of place, the easier it is to retain and attract talent and businesses to Topeka, in addition to the happier life it leads,” Purcell said.
