TOPEKA, Kansas—June 27, 2022—Three wealth advisors with Clayton Wealth Partners—Eric Purcell, CFP®, Zac Pohlenz, CFP®, and Colton Walker, CFP®—were thrilled to share a financial literacy presentation with participants in Choose Topeka’s Top City Interns program.
The financial advisors offered the presentation on Thursday, July 16 via Zoom. The discussion focused on financial topics that young professionals would find valuable, such as:
- General financial planning concepts
- Budgeting and savings
- Building credit and preparing for a home purchase
- Selecting investment vehicles
- The power of compounding
The Top City Interns program welcomes more than 200 interns each summer, introducing them to the city and local business leaders. Programs include social events, lunch-and-learns, and community connection via volunteering.
Emma Gustin, an intern with Clayton Wealth Partners, is participating in Top City Interns.
The program is part of the Greater Topeka Partnership’s Choose Topeka outreach to encourage professionals to live and work in Topeka.
“The Top City Interns program is not only about showing our interns the best of what Topeka can offer but also about doing our best to help prepare those interns for success, both in their careers—which we hope will be with Topeka and Shawnee county employers—and in their personal lives,” said Rhett Flood, the Greater Topeka Partnership’s Executive Director of Forge Young Talent. “The financial literacy presentation through Clayton Wealth Partners is a perfect example of the local business community stepping up to support interns by preparing them for financial success during the first leg of their career journeys.”
Clayton Wealth Partners, a Registered Investment Advisor in Topeka and Lawrence, has been presenting to the young professionals since the program started.
“They’ve provided support through financial-education presentations to hundreds, if not thousands, of interns over the past five or six years. We are proud of the partnership we have with the experts at Clayton Wealth Partners and know they have lots of knowledge to bestow upon our interns,” Flood continued. “Clayton Wealth is helping empower potential future leaders of Topeka and Shawnee County and setting area businesses up for financial success.”
