James M. Walden, CFA
Partner & Chief Investment Officer
As Partner & Chief Investment Officer, James Walden strives to maximize our clients’ long-term, risk-adjusted portfolio returns. This includes determining strategic and tactical asset allocations, as well as specific investment analysis and prudent rebalancing. Jim is also a partner & management team member. His expertise includes advanced investment research and valuation, and he is passionate about his role in helping clients reach and exceed their financial goals.
Jim holds a B.S. in Accounting from Indiana University, an MBA from the Johnson School at Cornell University, and a Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®) designation. He has always enjoyed working with numbers and thinking strategically, so pursuing an investing career was natural for him. With broad investment experience across diverse asset classes and market conditions, he counts starting his career at Clayton Wealth Partners as his most satisfying career moment and, with that opportunity, the ability to contribute to our clients’ financial success.
Jim lives in Lawrence with his wife, Becky, and their three children. His elder daughter was the first girl born on his dad’s side of the family in more than 100 years—followed by twins just a few years later. Outside of work, Jim enjoys spending time with his family, sports, outdoor activities, music and reading.
