James Walden, our Partner and Director of Investments, has joined the Chamber of Commerce in Lawrence, Kansas.
Proudly known as The Chamber, the leadership organization has been serving the Lawrence business community for 140 years—a fact that pleases Jim.
“I love being part of an organization that has such a long history of service,” Jim said. “And as a Lawrence resident myself, I’ve witnessed how The Chamber is a major driver for business growth in the community. I’m thrilled to do my part.”
The Chamber is focused on “sparking business growth and supporting … members through results-driven representation.” According to its website, the organization achieves this, in part, by promoting growth, leadership, and advocacy:
- Growth: The organization supports regional economic growth and job creation through an array of initiatives, including business recruitment, retention, and expansion, as well as support for entrepreneurs and startups.
- Leadership: The Chamber stays at the forefront of issues impacting the community, advocates for Lawrence, and employs programs such as Leadership Lawrence to develop future leaders.
- Advocacy: The organization serves as an advocate for the community, identifying issues that affect Lawrence and mobilizing efforts toward solving those issues through civic engagement.
Clint Patty, our Managing Partner, sees the Lawrence Chamber as a natural extension for Clayton Wealth Partners.
“I’m excited to see Jim joining—we have a number of Douglas County clients, and Jim will be an excellent leader and advocate in further promoting our model of fee-only, full-time fiduciary wealth management in Lawrence.”
Jim has served as our wealth management firm’s Chief Investment Officer since 2013 and became a partner in 2018. Among his responsibilities, he determines strategic and tactical asset allocations for our clients’ investment portfolios. He provides analysis of potential and current investments and provides prudent and ongoing rebalancing of portfolios.
He holds an MBA from Cornell University and the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.
Jim is also an active member of the community, with his most recent service including the Board of Directors for Just Food.
