Clayton Wealth Partners’ CIO has served on Just Food’s board of directors since 2019.
LAWRENCE, Kansas—March 8, 2022—Clayton Wealth Partners reports that its Chief Investment Officer, James Walden, CFA, has been elected the president of Just Food’s board of directors for 2022.
As board president, Walden sets the board’s agenda and goals as Just Food fulfills its mission to provide food to the hungry and empower community members to live happy, healthy lives.
“I joined the Just Food board of directors in 2019 and have seen first-hand the impact this nonprofit has in the community,” Walden said. “I am honored to serve as president and do my part to give back.”
Walden is a resident of Lawrence, where Just Food is headquartered. As Chief Investment Officer for wealth management firm Clayton Wealth Partners, Walden determines strategic and tactical investment allocations to help maximize clients’ long-term, risk-adjusted portfolio returns. As both a CIO and board president, he upholds a fiduciary duty.
“I’m grateful to apply my financial knowledge and fiduciary responsibility to the betterment of clients and the community,” he said. “And I’m grateful as well for the trust that has been placed in me.”
Just Food plays a crucial role in fighting hunger in Douglas County. It operates a regular and mobile food pantry with perishables and non-perishables for residents in need. It also delivers items to people who cannot visit the pantry and operates “cupboards” at local schools and colleges.
Just Food’s other programs include offering lessons in cooking healthy, inexpensive meals; providing resources and education for growing food gardens; supplying basic needs such as diapers that are left out of federal programs; providing quality kitchen supplies; and training students to work in professional kitchens.
