TOPEKA, Kansas—November 12, 2021—Clayton Wealth Partners was thrilled to do its part for women and children by sponsoring the annual Women’s Fund luncheon.
The luncheon was held October 20 at the Topeka Country Club. Speakers included Vice-Chair Elizabeth Young, CFP®, a Partner and Senior Wealth Advisor at Clayton Wealth Partners. Luncheon speakers shared that more than a half-million dollars have been awarded to local organizations since the fund’s inception.
“We are all proud of our accomplishment of collectively giving a half-million in grants to organizations serving Topeka’s women and children,” Young said.
The organization also shared future initiatives at the luncheon, as well as its new grantmaking process.
The Women’s Fund is a donor-advised fund of the Topeka Community Foundation. It is “designed to create a new pool of resources from women interested in becoming philanthropists through the power of collective giving,” the fund’s website states.
The Women’s Fund allocates grants through a voting process by fund members. Grants support projects and programs that benefit women and children. Areas of focus are:
- Access to healthy foods
- Affordable housing
- Arts/STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics) education
- Financial literacy
- Health/mental health
Grant recipients have included Child Care Aware of Eastern Kansas, Family Service & Guidance Center, Housing & Credit Counseling, Jayhawk Area Boy Scouts, Silver Lake Public Library, and the Sunflower Music Festival.
“There are so many ways to positively impact women and children through our collective giving, which our diverse grant recipients illustrate,” Young said.
Young has been a member of The Women’s Fund board since 2018. Before that, she served on its Grants Committee, which identifies program initiatives, issues requests for proposals, reviews grant applications, and recommends grants to fund members for final selection.
