TOPEKA & LAWRENCE, KSFebruary 14, 2024—Clayton Wealth Partners, a fiduciary wealth management firm based in Topeka and Lawrence, announced today that it has taken the #workingwithcancer pledge. In so doing, the Registered Investment Advisor has joined thousands of employers across the globe in pledging to eliminate the stigma and insecurity that employees may face when battling cancer and other serious health conditions.

Publicis Groupe and founding partners, such as Microsoft and Verizon, launched the Working With Cancer campaign to offer reassurance to the 50% of individuals with cancer who hesitate to disclose their condition to employers. This initiative aims to foster workplace cultures where employees do not fear losing their jobs due to a cancer diagnosis, ensuring a supportive environment for those facing one of the most challenging battles of their lives.

Clint Patty, J.D., Managing Partner at Clayton Wealth Partners, emphasized the firm’s longstanding commitment to a compassionate workplace culture. “Clayton Wealth Partners has enacted a ‘no stigma’ policy for employees battling cancer or any serious medical condition. Our company has long supported employees who have faced and successfully battled cancer. No one should feel fear of losing a job when facing the fight of their lives. We are proud to stand beside our employees and support the #workingwithcancer campaign.”

According to the Working With Cancer Pledge website, partners pledge to:

  1. Know the policies and programs their company is taking.
  2. Make their employees aware of the firm’s commitment.
  3. Create a conversation in the workplace.
  4. Track progress.
  5. Keep learning and improving.

James Walden, CFA, Partner and Chief Investment Officer, expressed pride in the firm’s pledge. “I am proud to stand with my colleagues at Clayton Wealth Partners and others who have taken the #workingwithcancer pledge. No one should have to fear the stigma of a cancer diagnosis or worry about losing their job while fighting cancer.”

According to the Working with Cancer Pledge website, 50% of employees with cancer don’t talk with their human resources department about returning to work.

Barbara Duncan, CFP®, Partner and Senior Wealth Advisor, highlighted the universal challenge of coping with cancer and the firm’s commitment to its employees. “Every family has faced the terrible challenges of coping with cancer. Our employees should always be supported in facing these challenges. I’m proud to stand by our employees and take the pledge.”

Elizabeth Young, CFP®, Partner and Senior Wealth Advisor, echoed Duncan’s sentiment, stating: “As a business owner, I am proud to have taken the #workingwithcancer pledge.  All employees should be supported when battling cancer and other serious medical issues. For our employees, we are there for you.”

As part of its pledge, Clayton Wealth Partners is dedicated to implementing supportive policies and fostering an environment of openness so that employees feel secure when seeking the necessary time off for treatment and recovery. The firm’s commitment to the #workingwithcancer campaign underlines its recognition of the importance of physical, mental, and emotional well-being in the workplace.
