TOPEKA, Kansas—Clayton Wealth Partners is excited to report today that Eric Purcell, an Associate Wealth Partner with the fee-only wealth management firm, is now a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional.
The CFP® certification is one of the most respected credentials in the financial services industry. It emphasizes a broad-based education, holistic financial planning, and adherence to ethics that put clients first.
“I am both happy and humbled to join a firm of four other CFP® professionals,” Purcell said. “Working toward the CFP® mark over the past three years has included countless hours fulfilling the educational requirements—on top of gaining the necessary professional experience with CWP.
The CFP® exam is the culmination of a comprehensive course of study that emphasizes comprehensive financial education, competence, and ethics. The six-hour exam is meant to test potential CFP® holders’ ability to apply their financial planning knowledge to real-life situations.
The exam isn’t the end of the process, however. All certificants must commit to ongoing experience, ethics, and education to maintain their standing. Only 25% of financial advisors are CFP® certificants.
“We are thrilled that Eric earned his CFP® mark,” said founding partner Randy Clayton, who also has the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification. “We require this certification of our wealth advisors given its emphasis on connecting financial strategies to people’s real-life goals and our strong adherence as fiduciaries to offering financial planning and advice only in the best interests of our clients.”
Purcell joined Clayton Wealth Partners in 2016. The son of two of the nation’s first group of CFP® practitioners, he is part of a legacy that carries on at Clayton Wealth Partners. Today, he assists senior wealth advisors in serving clients’ needs at the largest fee-only, full-time fiduciary firm in the area.
The certification will enable him to provide more comprehensive and in-depth planning, providing financial recommendations and building financial plans and strategies.
In addition to his CFP® certification, Purcell has a bachelor’s degree in finance and a Master of Business Administration, both from Washburn University. He is active in the community, serving as board treasurer for the Topeka/Shawnee County Riverfront Authority and as co-chair for Heartland Visioning’s Activate the River Committee.
