LAWRENCE, Kansas—August 1, 2022—With the economic and market instability that has marked 2022, James Walden, CFA, helped provide actionable insights at a July 19 presentation he gave to the Douglas County Estate Planning Council in Lawrence, Kansas.
Walden is the Chief Investment Officer of Clayton Wealth Partners, a fiduciary Registered Investment Advisor in Topeka and Lawrence, Kansas. At the presentation, he shared his thoughts on the financial markets, what might come next, and how investors can help prepare.
Walden writes a monthly market perspective to help clients and other readers frame economic and market events. He expanded on that perspective in his talk with members of the Estate Planning Council, an organization comprising lawyers, certified public accountants, financial advisors, trust officers, insurance agents, and other financial professionals.
“It’s easy to panic in times like these,” Walden said. “We have high inflation, the specter of recession, high market volatility, and a war in Europe. My intent was to discuss these ‘threats’ so that my colleagues have a deeper understanding of what’s at play, when to act, and just as importantly, when not to act. In turn, they can apply these insights to their work with their clients.”
Walden added that through the monthly perspective and talks, he hopes to promote informed decision-making.
Paul Davis, President of the Douglas County Estate Planning Council, said Walden’s talk was helpful.
“We greatly appreciate Jim Walden giving us his insight into the current state of U.S. and international financial markets,” Davis said. “This is obviously a volatile time, so Jim’s expertise really helped our members gain a better understanding of the current market trends and what the future may hold.”
