TOPEKA, Kansas—August 31, 2022—Barbara Duncan, CFP®, a Partner and Senior Wealth Advisor at Clayton Wealth Partners, recently joined the “Stronger Together: Destination NWA” event.
The Greater Topeka Partnership and the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce organized the April inter-city visit to Northwest Arkansas (NWA), which includes Rogers, Springdale, Bentonville, and Fayetteville.
Titled “Stronger Together: Destination NWA,” the program gave community leaders from the public, private, educational, and nonprofit sectors of Topeka and Lawrence the opportunity to learn about innovative ideas and programs of Northwest Arkansas.
“It was inspiring to see what can be accomplished when communities work together toward a common goal,” Duncan said.
Duncan has been with Clayton Wealth Partners since 2005. The Registered Investment Advisor has offices in Topeka and Lawrence and supports programs to strengthen area communities and the region.
The Destination NWA event is the latest in several trips organized by the Greater Topeka Partnership. Attendees visited Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 2014 and Montgomery, Alabama, in 2019.
This year’s program gave participants the opportunity to talk with Arkansas elected officials and chambers of commerce. In an opinion piece, Capital-Journal visuals editor Evert Nelson shared that NWA participants learned about the importance of having big business making investments in the community. They also learned about the need for cities to work together to achieve overall economic growth and the value of having a “draw” to encourage tourism.
“I was thrilled by what we saw,” Duncan said, “and all of us came home with fresh ideas about our own communities. I look forward to seeing what arises from the conversation that this visit prompted.”
